It's the end of the year and the end of a decade - times can be tough, but let's instead dwell on the GOOD things which have happened in the last ten years.

We might be facing turmoil and great challenges - financial, environmental, political, local - but let's see if we can make a list of everything that's been GOOD here in Drongan.

So what are the best things to happen to Drongan over the last decade? Think of sports victories, fantastic events, the school, local heroes, the landscape, town improvements and positive developments, shared joys or happy memories.

Well, I remember the time Drongan United won the triple when my ex-boss at Nimmo`s - Jim Nimmo - was the manager.

The whole village was right behind the team then. My pal`s mum, Jean Jarvie, among other women were knitting scarves by the dozen to meet the demand from the locals.

Buses were hired to go to the away games when we got to the important stages of competitions, and for the final I think there were like 7 or 8 buses hired to go to the cup final at Hampden against Motherwell Miners.

It was a very special time looking back now. Everbody was really rooting for the team, but unfortunately this isn`t the case now.

Let`s hope the locals get behind the team again and hopefully we`ll get back to the 1st division.
