Bye to Tessa - Drongan's premier pet

  • Tessa: "the best wee dog you could ever have got".

Here's a sad goodbye to a good old friend.

The most popular entry in our recent Animal Magic competition was Tessa, the 16-year-old pet of Isabel Kelly.

Sadly, when s1drongan contacted Isabel to tell her that Tessa had won, we were told that the old dog had passed away on August 26.

Isabel said: "When I received your e-mail I had a very big lump in my throat. We all loved Tessa with all our hearts and she was the best wee dog you could ever have got. We have her ashes at home with us where she belongs."

Since she was so loved, we've decided to present the 2011 Animal Magic award posthumously to Tessa.

Isabel said: "Tessa was so lovely and caring. We got her from a rescue home in 1995 and she was estimated at between 1 and 2 yrs old and from that day Tessa joined our family and brought us years of pride and joy.

"In the end she was diagnosed with very bad arthritis and could not even get out a walk, and she ended up with senile dementia as well. But she will always be in our hearts."
